For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon played with the varying thicknesses and heights they consistently observed in commercial vases. By experimenting with these, volumes of different heights emerged at the top. These volumes serve an important function: they hold flowers or plants in place. For the earthy color palette of VASE, Boon drew inspiration from the paintings of Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. "Just like with the BASE tableware, the idea is to mix and match different sizes and colors," says Boon.
The pots are intended as decorative pots and do not have an opening at the bottom for drainage. Therefore, we recommend not planting directly in the pot but placing the plant in a plastic pot + saucer or using a plastic bag on the inside. If the plant is planted directly in the pot, cracks may occur.
