For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon experimented with the various thicknesses and heights they consistently observed in commercial vases. By experimenting with these, volumes of different heights emerged at the top. These volumes serve an important function: they hold the flowers or plants in place. For VASE's earthy colour palette, Boon drew inspiration from paintings by Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. "Just like with the BASE tableware, the idea is to mix and match different sizes and colours," says Boon.
The pots are intended as decorative pots and do not have an opening at the bottom for drainage. Therefore, we recommend not planting directly into the pot, but placing the plant in a plastic pot + saucer or using a plastic bag on the inside. If the plant is planted directly into the pot, cracks may occur.
