For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon experimented with the various thicknesses and heights they consistently observed in commercial vases. By experimenting with these, volumes of different heights emerged at the top. These volumes serve an important function: they hold the flowers or plants in place. For the earthy color palette of VASE, Boon drew inspiration from paintings by Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. "Just like with the BASE tableware, the idea is to mix and match different sizes and colors," says Boon.
The pots are intended as decorative pots and do not have a drainage hole at the bottom. Therefore, we recommend not planting directly in the pot but placing the plant in a plastic pot + saucer or using a plastic liner inside. If the plant is planted directly in the pot, cracks may appear.
