For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon played with the varying thicknesses and heights that they kept seeing in commercial vases. Experimenting with these led to volumes of different heights at the top. These volumes serve an important function: they hold flowers or plants in place. For VASE's earthy colour palette, Boon drew inspiration from paintings by Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. "Just like with the BASE tableware, the idea is to mix and match different sizes and colours," says Boon.
The pots are intended as decorative pots and do not have a drainage hole at the bottom. Therefore, we recommend not planting directly in the pot but placing the plant in a plastic pot + saucer or using a plastic liner inside. If the plant is planted directly in the pot, cracks may appear.
