For the new collection of five vases, Studio Piet Boon experimented with the different thicknesses and heights they consistently observed in commercial vases. By experimenting with these, volumes of varying heights emerged at the top. These volumes fulfill an important function: they hold the flowers or plants in the correct position. For the earthy color palette of VASE, Boon drew inspiration from the paintings of Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. "Just like with the BASE dinnerware, the intention is to mix and match different sizes and colors," says Boon.
The pots are intended as decorative pots and do not have an opening at the bottom for drainage. Therefore, we recommend not planting directly into the pot but placing the plant in a plastic pot + saucer or using a plastic bag on the inside. If the plant is planted directly into the pot, cracks may occur.
