More than 30 years ago, during a car ride through Mechelen, Hilde was completely captivated by the beautiful heritage of this city. Was it less known, less visible back then? In any case, less acclaimed. Yet, she already felt the attraction of Mechelen. And she decided to open a flower shop in Guldenstraat. In October 1991, DE BORGHT was christened. 25 years later, the shop moved to Goswin De Stassartstraat and DE BORGHT was given a new life in this Poor Clare Monastery.
Hilde is the driving force behind DE BORGHT.
Hilde loves the shop, enjoys immensely putting together the range, connecting with the special people behind all the brands in the shop and their offerings. So what you see in the shop is not just anything. Hilde has to have a connection with it or, as she says herself, "a flutter in her stomach." It has to fit with De BORGHT and fit with you.
