Mark started his career as a bronze caster. From a debut with abstract sculptures, a gradual evolution to stylized bronze human and animal figures, to, for the last 13 years, exclusively animals, with a preference for birds.
Nature has always been the main source of inspiration for Mark's creations. He starts with animals in their natural habitat, and his inspiration comes from their poses, movements, color combinations, and even their way of looking. His works 'capture' a moment. In its simplicity, in its sleekness.
Mark Dedrie is active internationally. His sculptures are sold in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the Middle East. He has exhibited in several exceptional locations such as the Royal Botanic Gardens in London and the Weltvogelpark in Germany. Mark has also been selected twice for Art and the Animal (in 2018 and 2019) and in 2019 he is exhibiting for the first time at Birds in Art, a museum exhibition that has been organized annually in the US since 1976 and that only showcases the best contemporary artistic interpretations of birds.
